Learning design, Accessibility, Assessment

I provide short, clearly scoped writing and advisory work for organisations that need learning design or accessibility thinking to be made explicit, defensible, and usable in practice.

This service exists for moments where unclear guidance, inherited language, or poorly articulated principles create risk, particularly when decisions are applied across programmes or scale beyond their original context.

The focus is on written outputs and structured advice, not ongoing consultancy or delivery.

What this work helps reduce

Clients typically commission this work to reduce the risk of:

local interpretation replacing a shared understanding
accessibility or assessment guidance being ignored because it is abstract, idealised, or impractical
inconsistent practice emerging across programmes or teams
decisions becoming difficult to defend when challenged internally or externally
policy or guidance existing in name but not in use

The aim is to produce writing that holds under scrutiny and works in practice.

What’s included

Depending on scope, this work may include:

Writing internal guidance or reference documents (e.g. accessibility standards, assessment or feedback guidance, design principles)
Synthesising research, policy, or sector practice into usable frameworks (e.g. staff‑facing resources, decision guides, boundary statements)
Advisory review of existing approaches, with written recommendations grounded in learning design practice and institutional context

All work is explicitly agreed in advance, with a defined scope, deliverables, and timeframe. Outputs are designed to be immediately usable within your existing context.

What I focus on

This work prioritises:

clarity of purpose and audience
alignment between learning outcomes, assessment, and design decisions
accessibility and inclusion as design constraints, not afterthoughts
guidance that is realistic, defensible, and usable by non‑specialists
supporting consistent practice at programme or organisational level
identifying where guidance introduces tensions or trade‑offs that need to be made explicit

The goal is not to produce more documentation, but better decisions encoded in writing.

What this is not

To keep this work focused and sustainable, I do not:

build courses or learning materials
work inside LMS or VLE platforms
provide ongoing consultancy, coaching, or embedded support
deliver training sessions or workshops
offer legal, regulatory, or formal compliance sign‑off

If you are looking for long‑term engagement or hands‑on delivery, this service is unlikely to be a good fit.

How it works

You get in touch with a brief outline of what you need

We agree scope, deliverables, and timeframe in advance

I complete the agreed writing or advisory work

You receive the final output by the agreed date

Most engagements are designed to be completed within a short, clearly defined window, with no expectation of follow‑on support.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing is based on scope and deliverables, not time spent.

Typically £400–£900, depending on scope, complexity, and length. Fixed‑fee pricing is agreed in advance based on defined deliverables.

I take on a limited number of writing or advisory projects at any one time.

If you would like to discuss whether a piece of work is suitable, you are welcome to email briefly with an outline of what you need (including any timelines or constraints, if known).

A suitability note

This service is a good fit if you:

need a clear, written output rather than an ongoing relationship

want informed synthesis and judgement, rather than generic content

are working within real institutional constraints

value precision, clarity, and defensibility over breadth

If you are unsure whether your needs fit this scope, a short initial message is encouraged.
